Thanks to more than €30 million from the Cohesion Fund, Greek citizens will benefit from faster and safer transport connections with a new railway section between Rododafni and Rio in Greece.
EU Cohesion Policy: More than €30 million for modernising Greece’s Athens-Patras railway
- 04 August 2023

The section will be part of the rail connection between Athens and Patras and will reduce the journey time between the two cities by 20 minutes. The track will be upgraded with a new signalling and control infrastructure and new overhead electric cables will be installed.
The project, which complements several other railway infrastructure actions, will have a significant socio-economic impact in the region providing better connections to a remote area making the Peloponnese more accessible, promoting economic and cultural development and attracting tourism.
