EU supports quantum computing in Hamburg

Today, the University of Hamburg and the Technical University of Hamburg launch a new quantum computing project.

The aim of the project is to create an ecosystem for interdisciplinary research on quantum computing in Hamburg and to develop new software and hardware solutions for quantum computers „Made in Europe“. The European Regional Development Fund supports the project with €7 million, in addition to €10.5 million from the city of Hamburg. Quantum computing is a future technology of the 21st century.

The Hamburg Senator for Science, Research and Equality Katharina Fegebank and the Head of Unit for Austria, Germany and the Netherlands of DG REGIO Nicolas Gibert-Morin are attending the kick-off event.
