Hydraulic researchers at the University of Liège and thermodynamic laboratory in Belgium are working on ways to save energy in the management of the river routes. The researchers have developed a test bench which enables submersible pumps to be tested in almost real conditions, which would allow to reduce Co2 emissions. The project has been support by the Interreg North-West Europe programme with €1.6 million.
