‘Living Without Leaving?’ European Commission launches an open call for Young Artists from the Adriatic and Ionian Region

‘Living Without Leaving?’ an art competition exploring the perspective of Adriatic-Ionian young artists on the right to stay. Deadline for submission of artworks 15 March 2025.

European Commission invites young artists (18-35) from the countries participating in the EU Strategy for Adriatic and Ionian Region to reflect on the right to stay, migration, and belonging.

Through painting, ceramics, digital art, and mixed media, participants are encouraged to explore their personal connections to their homeland. How does one preserve cultural heritage after years abroad? Is attachment to one’s country unbreakable? Living Without Leaving? provides a space for young artists to express these questions through their creative work.

This initiative is part of the European Commission support to the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region and reinforces key values of inclusion, cooperation, and solidarity. Organized in partnership with the University of Ioannina – Faculty of Fine Arts, this art competition aims to spark dialogue on mobility and rootedness, highlighting diverse perspectives from across the region. Selected artworks will be presented in a touring exhibition in Belgium, Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia in 2025, ensuring that these artistic reflections reach audiences across borders.
