The agri-food platform includes regions focussing on agriculture and food in their smart specialisation strategy priorities.
These regions aim to strengthen core areas of expertise in agriculture and food complementary to and in collaboration with other regions.
The core activities of the agri-food platform are executed in thematic smart specialisation partnerships where regions initiate and explore new agri-food value chains, develop interregional investment projects, interregional collaboration projects and / or work to align smart specialisation strategies among them.
The purpose is to identify and specify areas within the common thematic priorities of traceability and big data, high-tech farming, smart sensors, ingredients, food packaging and consumer involvement for co-investment with high potential business, societal and ecological return at regional and European level, leveraged through combining smart specialisation investments across committed regions, cluster, businesses, and innovation actors as well as civil society.
