Smart Specialisation in Poland takes off for the future through the Flaris project

Lower Silesia in Poland is a mountainous province which welcomes tourists, an industrial centre specialising in large machinery, energy equipment and household appliances. On its own, Lower Silesia accounts for around 8% of Poland’s Gross Value Added. However, this strong economic situation does not stop it from wanting to diversify through new projects based on innovation.

Flaris is the name of a five-seater family jet-plane developed in Poland through the co-operation of specialists from different European countries. It is made out of extremely light composite materials and is a true revolution in the category of small and lightweight jets. The EU funded Flaris project aims at opening up new market opportunities through innovation, just as the European Union recommends in its Smart Specialisation strategies.
