The general objective of the study is to support the key public and private stakeholders in the Metropolitan Area of Cúcuta to identify the main challenges and solutions to support the development and promotion of tourism in the territory. Particular emphasis will be made to their status as a border area.
The specific objectives of this project are to encourage the management of sustainable tourism development models, identifying specific projects that take into account the historical, geographical and social characteristics of the region; to promote sustainable development based on the participation of all stakeholders, public and private actors and civil society and to support activities for the development of integrated environmental management systems, including tourist circuits in the project area.
