The autumn issue of Panorama magazine is now available to download, full of new developments revealed at this year’s European Week of Regions and Cities.

We outline the main findings of both the recently published Regional Competitiveness Index and the Eurobarometer survey on the public’s awareness and appreciation of regional policy. We also profile all the finalists, and reveal the winners, of this year’s Regiostars awards for the most innovative EU-funded projects.

Our focus this time is on Denmark, which has recently launched a new Danish Executive Board for Business Development and Growth to handle Cohesion funds. In an interview the Board’s vice-director Sigmund Lubanski explains what the changes mean; we also profile recent successful Danish projects.

In a section focussing on evaluation we report from the 8th Evaluation conference and assess key results from the EU Solidarity Fund’s work over the past 15 years. We also update you on negotiations for the EU budget for the next funding period, and report on how Portugal is assessing and adjusting its smart specialisation strategy.

The In Your Own Words section features a contribution from Lower Saxony, and we also hear from younger people via their experiences in the Youth4Regions media programme. The projects section visits Italy, Spain and Central Europe.
