Programme description
The programme aims to boost cross-border cooperation between Romania and Ukraine to address the vital needs of the border regions. This is particularly important now that the border area is highly impacted by the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
The principle of partnership is a key feature of this programme, as it enables Romania and Ukraine to cooperate on an equal footing. This is highly appreciated by all the stakeholders.
The programme will provide financing for investments in inclusive education and quality healthcare services. Funds will also be devoted to climate change adaptation measures, which include making the regions resilient to the risk of natural disasters. Additionally, it will support joint solutions for the preservation of nature, biodiversity, green infrastructure, protection of culture and tourism, as well as improvement of border management.
By the adoption of this programme the Commission sends a strong signal of support
to Ukraine. The programme priorities may be adjusted in the future, depending on further developments and upcoming needs of the area
