Programme description
The programme aims to boost cross-border cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in order to address the vital needs of the border regions. This is particularly important now that the Moldovan population is highly impacted by the consequences of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.
The principle of partnership is a key feature of this programme, as it enables Romania and Moldova to cooperate on an equal footing.Highly appreciated by all the stakeholders, it allows Moldova to gain experience with EU shared management.
The programme will provide financing for investments in climate change adaptation measures and disaster risk resilience of border regions. It also entails inclusive education and quality health care services. In particular, it will support joint solutions for preservation of nature, biodiversity, green infrastructure, protection of culture and tourism, and also improvement of border management.
By adopting this programme the Commission sends a strong signal of support to Moldova. Currents needs and future developments in the border area will inform and underpin adjustments to the programme priorities of the future.
