Programme description
The programme seeks to improve the economic competitiveness, social cohesion and accessibility of the region, to increase the quality of life of its citizens.
It focuses on using the region's competitive advantages and addressing bottlenecks in transport, education, mobility, energy efficiency, and urban regeneration. The region’s main challenges range from industrial restructuring to low productivity in agricultural areas.
The focus will be placed on developing the research and innovation capacity, competitiveness and technology uptake of SMEs and microenterprises. This priority also supports skills development for smart specialisation, the industrial transition and entrepreneurship.
The measures to increase sustainability and green infrastructure will include promoting sustainable, multimodal urban mobility as part of the transition to a zero-carbon economy and energy efficiency for public and residential buildings. Funding will also be channelled into equal access to quality and inclusive education, training and lifelong learning by developing accessible infrastructure.
