Central Region

Programme description

The programme targeting the Central region of Romania strives for development through innovation, the green transition and digital economy, use of cultural identity, by promoting entrepreneurship and effective governance.

Investments and measures seek to encourage innovation and greater use of technology by firms. To improve communication between public authorities and citizens and the competitiveness of SMEs, support will be given to developing digital public services and to the digitalisation in businesses.

The programme also supports increasing the quality of life by:

  • Improving the energy performance of public and residential buildings;
  • Developing green and blue infrastructure in urban areas;
  • Modernising and decarbonising public transport, stimulating non-motorised and electric transport and digitalising traffic systems;
  • Improving road infrastructure connecting less developed and isolated areas to the TEN-T network;
  • Increasing the quality of formal and non-formal education infrastructure and programmes;
  • Ensuring equal access for children to care and education infrastructure and services;
  • Community development, especially in rural areas, by exploiting their environmental and cultural tourism potential.
