RP Veneto ERDF 2021-2027
Programme description
Veneto’s programme will invest in the following four areas:
A more competitive and smarter Europe
The region will strengthen the link between business and the world of public and private research through support for investment in research infrastructures. In line with the regional Smart Specialisation Strategy, the programme will support High Performance Computing to facilitate the data-sharing and analysis. Such intervention will enable the technology transfer and the innovation centres serving innovative start-ups and Small and Medium-size Entreprises.
The region will also continue its work to close the digital skills gap to improve the resilience of the regional economic system. Such interventions will enable a shift from traditional production structures to more innovative ones, in line with the National Transition Plan 4.0 and the Regional Sustainable Development Strategy 2030.
A greener, low carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy and resilient Europe
Veneto will target the most energy-intensive sectors with a high potential for improvement through measures to reduce consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources. Actions in Research and Innovation will be crucial in identifying solutions to make energy generation more efficient and reduce consumption.
For climate risk-prevention, the region will focus on the erosion of the coastal area and damage caused by frequent storms, landslides, floods and on the monitoring of seismic risk. With an eye on circular economy, the region plans to review production and consumption patterns to increase efficiency in the waste re-use cycle.
A more social and inclusive Europe implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights
In complementarity with the ESF+ programme, the programme will enable the region to develop accessible technological infrastructure for distance learning and improve school infrastructure. Furthermore, EU funding will allow the purchase of school laboratory equipment and contribute to reducing school dropout, fostering the integration of people at risk of social exclusion. In urban areas, actions will be implemented for social integration of vulnerable people and households through inclusive housing and measures to improve access to quality services. The involvement of local communities in the promotion and regeneration of cultural heritage will be strengthened with the goal of fostering social inclusion and sustainable tourism.
A Europe closer to citizens by fostering the sustainable and integrated development of all types of territories and local initiatives
Veneto will promote the residential and economic attractiveness of a number of inland and urban areas in conjunction with other urban initiatives in the other policy areas. Under this objective, the region foresees measures to regenerate these areas, improve access to digital services and improve the quality of the urban environment through a sustainable and integrated mobility system, green infrastructure and actions to promote social inclusion in more fragile contexts.
The programme’s contribution to climate is 36.7% and to sustainable urban development 16.2%.
