Programme description
The Campania regional programme refers to one of the most important Region in Southern Italy. The region faces challenges in expressing its potential for innovation and in facing the green transition with its climate change adaptation aspects.
To address these challenges, the programme aims to ease the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access to innovative techniques and processes. To this end the programme will facilitate the upgrade of research infrastructures, as well as the creation and upscaling of innovative firms. A balanced use of grants and financial instruments will support the industrial transition while creating better access to ICT services and the capital market.
Coherently with environmental goals, the programme enhances energy efficiency for public buildings and enterprises. In addition, investments in renewables energies for self-consumption will receive assistance. Such investments will help climate change adaptation, risk prevention and disaster resilience, including for environmental infrastructures for wastewater treatment and waste management. The programme also encourages a shift towards cleaner forms of mobility, especially in urban areas.
The promotion of social constitutes an additional priority in Campania. Through support to the social economy, the programme aims to favour the access to quality education services, and inclusion of marginalised people, including third countries nationals. A push to strengthen primary health care and digital health services on the territory is key for social inclusion, whereas culture can be a key driver of both inclusion and innovation.
A cross cutting issue is represented by the need to improve the effective delivery of the EU interventions and to this effect a new plan for administrative reinforcement will frame capacity building interventions.
Examples of projects to be supported within the programme include the digitalisation of businesses and the Public Administration, the improvement of water infrastructures, the purchase of “zero emission” rolling stock, “cold ironing” reducing the pollution of ships in ports and tertiary education infrastructures.
Finally, within the framework of integrated territorial strategies and with backing to 26 urban areas and 7 inner areas, the programme fosters a Region closer to its citizen.
