Programme Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and territories Rhône Saône and Massif Central ERDF-ESF+-JTF 2021-2027

Programme description

Rhône-Alpes is the only former region (prior to the 2016 merger) to still be among the more developed regions in France (along with Île-de-France). Hence, the programme, with Auvergne in transition, is the only French one to cover two categories of region.

One of the major challenges this cohesion policy programme will address is the regional disparities, especially regarding access to equipment and infrastructure, and employment. This will be done for the region as a whole and in the former regions of Rhône-Alpes and Auvergne.

The programme will mainly invest in research, development and innovation; digitalisation of the territory; competitiveness of enterprises; the energy transition and climate change adaptation; waste management and biodiversity; (urban) mobility and health services.

The region mobilises 4 strategic European Union objectives (OS1, OS2, OS4, OS5), identifying 10 priorities for intervention, including those mentioned above, for the Massif Central range and the Rhône-Saône river basin, and one from the Just Transition Fund. The fund will be used for the Isère and Rhône departments, in the former Rhône-Alpes region.
