Programme Corse ERDF-ESF+ 2021-2027

Programme description

The Region mobilises four strategic objectives of the European Union, identifying six priorities for intervention in order to address the following threefold challenge: strengthening the competitiveness, regional innovation and digitalization; supporting adaptation to climate change and ecological transition; strengthening cohesion and attractiveness.

The Programme’s allocations on policy objective 1 (PO1), account for 43% of the total ERDF allocation (EUR 45.2 million) of which one third will support research and innovation and another third the competitiveness of SMEs.

Corse will mobilise around 33% of the overall ERDF-allocation (corresponding to EUR 34.9 million) to a “greener Europe”. The Programme will support European climate ambition by dedicating a 33% of ERDF expenditure (32% of EU expenditure) on its own.

Social challenges are addressed essentially via PO4 (12,3% of the total ERDF allocation and 100% of ESF+ allocation, corresponding to a total amount of EUR 25 million)

The integrated development of urban areas is covered by a dedicated priority on policy objective 5 (PO5) with an amount of EUR 8.5 million (8% of the total ERDF allocation).

Overall, Corse will largely use grants in its programme. The Region will however make use of a EUR 30.3 million of financial instruments (29% of the total ERDF allocation) under PO1 and PO2.

The Corse programme will support two operations of strategic importance. For ERDF, the development of e-health, in a context where health infrastructures and services are unevenly distributed across the territory and subject to significant pressure, is a crucial issue for the island territory.

Thanks to the mobilization of the ERDF, it will make it possible to improve the working conditions of healthcare professionals and the quality of patient care through the implementation of new tools in the development of e-health (digitalization of health, service platforms related to health and telemedicine, computerization of various health-related services, etc.).

With regard to the ESF+, the challenge for the region is to support citizens through a better orientation of young people at the service of competitiveness and territory development. The dissemination of information on professions and training is an important issue. The objective pursued is to prepare school and university audiences, apprentices, for work life using innovative communication tools.
