Programme Centre-Val de Loire and interregional Loire ERDF-ESF+ 2021-2027

Programme description

The new programme aims to address the structural impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges of the economic, environmental, digital and social transition, while working for a sustainable and inclusive territory.

The region mobilises four strategic European Union objectives (OS1, OS2, OS4, OS5), identifying seven priorities to achieve the following:

  • strengthen competitiveness, regional innovation and digitalisation;
  • support adaptation to climate change and the ecological transition;
  • strengthen social cohesion and the attractiveness of the region.

Investments in the region’s innovation capacity and that promote its emerging leadership in key areas will support these goals. This will be accompanied by efforts to achieve a green and digital transition and ensure balanced and inclusive territorial development.

Thus, more than 37 % of the total ERDF allocation will be used to focus on policy objective 1 (PO1). A total of EUR 110 million, roughly 85% of the PO1 allocation, will be used to strengthen regional innovation, help SMEs become more innovative and promote development of digital technologies that benefit citizens, public authorities and businesses. The remaining PO1 allocation of EUR 18 million will be used to strengthen skills and connectivity.

Centre-Val de Loire will mobilise more than 34 % of the overall ERDF-allocation, or EUR 103 million, to achieving a “greener Europe”. The programme will support European climate ambitions by dedicating nearly 32 % of ERDF expenditure in its own programme to this theme, in line with national plans formalised in the partnership agreement.

A total of 17.5 % of the PO2 allocation will promote sustainable mobility, to reduce the carbon footprint of transport and develop a net zero-carbon economy. Nearly 11 % of the PO2 allocation will support biodiversity. The remainder will be used for energy efficiency measures in low-income households, to ensure climate change adaptation and develop smart energy systems, grids and storage.
