Programme description
The programme’s investments will support the region’s business competitiveness, sustainability and social inclusion.
Through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the programme will support research and innovation in companies operating in the sectors identified in the regional Smart Specialisation Strategy. These are human and social processes, digital transformation, advanced technologies, green transition, global health, biotechnology and agrifood. EU funds will also promote public-private cooperation, technology transfer and uptake of digital technologies in both SMEs and public administrations, to offer improved services to citizens.
The green transition will attract the largest investments from the programme, which will prioritise deep renovation of public buildings and the upgrade of water management. This will reduce water losses and protect nature and biodiversity with the goal of creating greener cities.
The programme will also promote setting-up renewable energies, including a key innovative project on green hydrogen. On sustainable mobility, the investments will promote efficient and multimodal urban public transport in Madrid city.
Finally, the ERDF will support investments in key centres of vocational education and training, to support employability and quality of education.
