Programme La Rioja ERDF 2021-2027

Programme description

The programme’s investments will focus on two main policy objectives to address economic and environmental challenges. Firstly, the programme will improve the regional research and innovation system to strengthen the competitiveness of local small and medium businesses.

By investing in strategic research and innovation infrastructure, the EU’s support will enable the development of collaborative projects, thus encouraging cooperation and enabling technology transfer. On business competitiveness, the programme will promote internationalisation, entrepreneurship, digitisation, marketing and organisational innovation. It will finance new digital public and health services focusing on reversing depopulation trends in low-density areas.

The programme will support the green transition and the mitigation of climate change-related risks. This will be done by investing in renovation of public and private buildings, including residential ones. Coherently with this goal, the programme will prioritise “deep” renovations with high saving potential and the integration of renewable energy sources.

The programme will also support recovery of the surface water masses and water supply.

Finally, the programme will help reinforce the region’s leading position in circular economy and biodiversity, by financing a new treatment facility for municipal waste, the region’s Natura 2000 plans and wildlife recovery actions.
