Programme description

The programme aims to address the regions key challenges in terms of business competitiveness, sustainability, connectivity and social inclusion. Through the ERDF, the programme will:

  • help improve research and innovation capacities and adopt advanced technologies, by encouraging technology transfer and supporting innovative firms;
  • promote the small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) uptake of digital technologies and the development and promotion of e-government and interoperable e-services;
  • support SME competitiveness, by encouraging investments in viability, modernisation and internationalisation;
  • promote energy-efficient renovation of buildings, decarbonisation and energy efficiency of economic activities.
  • support investment in water resource management.

In addition, the programme will support the transition to a circular economy and the transition to renewable energies. This will be done by encouraging the deployment of smart distribution grids and improving energy storage. Moreover, the programme will finance climate change adaptation by setting in place risk mitigation measures to prevent natural disasters. It will also invest in protecting and restoring biodiversity and promoting sustainable tourism that is compatible with preserving natural and cultural resources.

On connectivity, investments will focus on promoting public transport and intramodality, to better serve a population that is spread throughout the entire regional territory. Finally, the programme will help strengthen the territorial balance and citizens’ quality of life, by enabling the entire region’s population to access quality health and education services.
