Programme description
The programme intends to address the region’s most important economic challenges. It will invest in research and innovation, small business competitiveness, decarbonisation of the economy, renewable energy sources, social support, and citizens’ engagement.
Through the ERDF fund, the programme will:
- improve research and innovation capacities and support the uptake of advanced technologies, by encouraging technology transfer and supporting innovative businesses;
- enhance sustainable growth and competitiveness of local small businesses by supporting their viability, modernisation and internationalisation;
- promote energy-efficient renovation of public buildings, decarbonisation and energy efficiency of economic activities;
- support investments in water management.
In addition, the programme will support the uptake of digital technologies by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) along with the promotion of public innovative and interoperable e-services. It will also finance transitioning to renewable energies, while, to boost resilience in the face of climate change, the programme will finance adaptation measures which will minimise natural disasters.
On connectivity, investments will focus on promoting efficient public transport to reduce CO2 emissions, by enhancing multimodal mobility and connecting peripheral areas of the region. Finally, the programme will help strengthening the territorial balance and the citizens’ quality of life, enabling the entire region’s population to access quality health and education services.
