Programme description
The programme seeks to address the three main challenges identified by the city: attracting business initiatives, the social and economic integration of the unemployed, and achieving environmental sustainability targets.
Through the ERDF, the EU will support the local business sector. Specifically, it will set up and develop centres for technological innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will receive direct support, with a strong focus on innovation.
In coordination with these actions, the programme will help strengthen the workforce’s job skills and competencies, with the creation and expansion of vocational training centres. These will focus on promoting training in basic traditional skills, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, the programme will invest in improving the sustainability and performance of the city’s facilities; namely in the areas of renewable energies, sustainable urban mobility, biodiversity and wastewater treatment (upgrading the general sewage system).
