Programme description
The programme will support research and innovation through investments that will include infrastructure and equipment across small business and higher education institutions.
EU funds will support the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) by promoting innovative forms of entrepreneurship and investing in digitisation and internationalisation. It will also support new digital public and health services, information and communication infrastructure and connectivity projects for local administrations.
As a response to current energy challenges, it will invest in energy efficiency of water infrastructure, enterprises, and public and private buildings. Such efforts will compound initiatives aimed at diversifying the energy supply mix through the gradual introduction of renewable energy sources for buildings.
As regards climate change, the programme will support nature-based projects to reduce floods and protect biodiversity, as well as fire prevention.
To enhance efficiency in the use of water resources, the programme will support water savings, reduce losses in the water supply network, reuse drinking water and improve wastewater collection and treatment.
On waste management, the programme will promote activities of environmental education, while also upgrading solid waste treatment facilities enabling to separate waste, recover materials for reuse and compost bio-waste.
Finally, under the social strand, the programme will support the regional health sector, by investing in health infrastructure and equipment, both in primary care and hospitals.
