Programme Castilla y Leon ERDF 2021-2027

Programme description

The Programme aims at fostering competitiveness through innovation and research. This objective will be attained by facilitating digital transformation; promoting decarbonisation and the ushering in the green transition. Such improvements will compound actions aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and at fostering equal access to quality public services. In addition, all the programme’s funding priorities will help address demographic challenges, namely ageing and population decline.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will boost investments in research and innovation, by promoting collaboration between research groups and economic clusters. It will support regional specialisation by encouraging knowledge transfer in the most competitive economic sectors and niches of excellence.

Additionally, the ERDF will support innovative digital public services, for example for civil protection, or again for business competitiveness through information and communication technologies. It will support small business to internationalise, improving their positioning both at national and international level. The programme will also encourage creation, consolidation, and growth of businesses, granting particular attention to technological investments.

The ERDF will support energy efficiency and the integration of renewable energies in public buildings. It will help set up public networks for the distribution of sustainable normal energy while making schools and other public buildings more energy-efficient and seamlessly integrated with the surrounding natural environment.

In parallel, EU funds will promote a more efficient use of water, achievable through the update of pipelines and regional supply networks. In addition, it will help improve substantially risk protection services, including prevention of forest fires. Likewise, the ERDF will improve accessibility and adaptation of the Natura 2000 areas with a consequent service improvement for tourists.

Finally, the ERDF will co-finance educational infrastructure, as well as renovation and purchase of high-tech equipment in regional hospitals, to improve the quality of the health system.
