Programme description
The programme aims to diversify the regional economy. To this end, it will support scientific and technical knowledge as well as competitiveness for small and medium enterprises. Under the specific allocation for EU outermost regions, the programme will provide a compensation to the transport sector for the additional costs linked to remoteness.
Under the social strand, projects will focus on improving the quality and inclusiveness of education, investing in infrastructure, digitisation, and health facilities. The programme will also support citizens to exercise their rights. The specific allocation for outermost regions will support cost overruns in health services and in the provision of quality care.
To ensure the green transition of the region, the programme will support the renovation of buildings and infrastructures, the conservation of its rich biodiversity, and the digitisation of the maritime transport sector.
In addition, the programme aims to boost sustainable tourism. Under the specific allocation, the programme will support investments in airport infrastructures, and the installation of a hydroelectric pump storage plant. Finally, following the eruption of the volcano in La Palma in 2022, the programme also support specific projects such as a monitoring and alert systems.
