Programme description
The programme will support investments in key sectors for the benefit of the people and businesses in the region. It will contribute to making the region, the country and Europe smarter, greener and more competitive.
Through the ERDF, the EU will support research, development, and innovation investments, in line with the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3). Investment will further concentrate in promoting business technology innovation and digitisation across industrial sectors. This will increase small and medium enterprises’ competitiveness and enable job creation.
An important part of the allocation will finance sustainable digital infrastructures, enhancing cybersecurity and interoperable safety and the emergency networks. This will benefit citizens, public administrations, and the education community.
Finally, the programme will seek to improve energy efficiency in public schools and in the health sector. It will also promote the use of renewable energy in the economic sectors identified under the S3 Strategy, namely automotive, logistics, agri-food, energy, tourism, and culture. Lastly, the programme will address soil decontamination.
