Programme description
The Programme aims to promote the smart and innovative economic transformation of the Region of Peloponnisos by linking research institutions, businesses and civil society in interactive innovation processes. It will support new businesses and start-ups, focusing in the sectors of the Regional Smart Specialization Strategy and will contribute to the Region’s digital transition.
The Region’s green transition is also supported, with emphasis on the greatest possible use of RES and actions to improve energy efficiency. The Programme includes also projects to protect the environment and mitigate the negative consequences of climate change, support the transition towards a circular economy and actions to modernise water and wastewater facilities.
Through the ERDF and ESF+ funds, education, social and healthcare services will also be reinforced, with actions aiming to improve quality and accessibility of services and actions to support the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. Priority is also given to create new employment opportunities and increase the employability of human resources mainly through the reskilling and upskilling of workers.
Finally, the Programme includes actions to upgrade intra-regional mobility and improve road safety and actions to regenerate urban and rural areas of the region and promote culture and tourism through the implementation of Integrated Territorial Investments, thus improving the citizen’s quality of life.
