Programme ERDF 2021-2027 Rhineland-Palatinate

Programme description

The programme reinforces the position of Rheinland-Pfalz as one of the EU's leading innovation regions. To make Rhineland-Palatinate a more attractive location for innovation, the programme focuses on Research & Development and support to SMEs:

  • Supporting joint research activities and cooperation between businesses and research institutions (knowledge transfer), investing in research equipment and infrastructure as well as the development of innovative clusters and networks.
  • Providing venture capital to technology-oriented start-ups through a financial instrument (venture capital) to increase the number of start-ups in the region.
  • Modernisation of the region’s tourism sector with the focus on improving innovation and digitization competences of SMEs

EU-funds promote a greener economy through:

  • Supporting energy efficiency measures in municipal buildings (model projects) to reduce energy consumption.
  • Providing expertise and improving knowledge on energy efficiency matters for municipalities and enterprises.
  • Supporting (model) projects in the field of technologies for smarter energy systems, grids and storage systems.
