(Interreg VI-A) Germany-Austria-Switzerland-Liechtenstein (Alpenrhein-Bodensee-Hochrhein)
Programme description
The programme aims to provide funding to projects in the many areas in which there is potential for cooperation. Examples are:
- Innovation: technology transfer, networking of enterprises, improvement of innovation skills and processes in SMEs, entrepreneurship;
- Digitisation: digitisation of SMEs, digital cross-border public services;
- Climate change adaptation: institutional capacity to ensure cooperation in the event of a disaster such as flooding, fire, avalanches, or health crises;
- Biodiversity: protection of Natura 2000 areas, production processes that do not pollute, developing cycle paths to reduce air pollution;
- Education: cooperation between schools, training to increase skills and qualifications of the unemployed, development of virtual education (based on the COVID-19 experience);
- Health: cross-border health and care services, e-health;
- Tourism and culture: marketing of cross-border tourism and cultural areas, development of nature-based tourism;
- Reduction of obstacles: cross-border services, better acceptance of renewable energies, cross-border spatial planning (e.g. transport), cooperation between local administrations, labour market cooperation, reduction of legal and administrative obstacles, people-to-people, small projects funds.
During development of the programme strategy, attention was paid to developing links with the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP).
Two small project funds: one for people-to-people and institutional cooperation, and another for digital transformation of the economy and society; along with living labs on innovation involving enterprises and research bodies, are among the expected results.
