Programme description
Main objectives
The Programme aims to boost economic growth and contribute to achieving the Europe 2020 targets for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. It should create jobs and boost productivity, particularly in SMEs. EU funding is targeted according to the regional specialization strategy (RIS3) and will concentrate in research and development, innovation and ICT use within the health sector, aiming at connecting the business network with the technological and research institutions and boosting the presence of the region in international research consortiums. The diversification and competitiveness of SMEs will be promoted via access to credit and to specialized services. Finally, the programme will contribute to improve the energy efficiency of the region.
Funding priorities
The programmes will focus on four main priorities:
- Achieve excellence in research, development and innovation
- Enhance SMEs' competitiveness and internationalization
- Strengthen information society in the health sector
- Improve energy and resource efficiency in households and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Expected Impacts
- Investment in over 700 existing SMEs
- Facilitate the establishment of new innovative SMEs
- Create over 400 exporting SMEs
- Number of firms cooperating with R&D institutions: 342
- Private investment matching public support in R&D and innovation projects: almost € 48 million
- Researchers that participate in co-financed projects per year: 444
- Population covered by regional e-health services: 100% (0% in 2013)
