OP ESF 2014 REGION DE MURCIA

Programme description

The Operational Programme (OP) for support from the ESF in the Spanish region of Murcia for the period 2014-2020 has a volume of €112.9 million, of which almost €91 come from the EU budget.

Planned initiatives under this OP will substantially contribute to the region’s ability to achieve the main regional, national and European development priorities in the field of employment, social inclusion and education. The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth by intervening on employment, education and training in a reinforced social dimension.

Investments will focus on these main priorities:

  • 54% of the OP resources are allocated to strengthening employment and labour mobility. This includes measures to improve the employability of job seekers and support their transition to employment or self-employment or initiatives that help workers and enterprises adapt to change. A particular focus is on fostering equal opportunities at the workplace and reducing the gender pay gap.
  • 20% of the OP budget will be dedicated to promoting active inclusion and fighting poverty through actions addressed to disadvantaged people. This also includes measures aiming at the socio economic integration of marginalised communities such as the Roma.
  • 24% of the OP resources are allocated to reduce and prevent early school leaving (one of the EU2020 headline targets) and improving the transition between education and work, as well as strengthening vocational and education systems, including dual system schemes.

It is expected that this programme will allow over 3300 jobless, including long-term unemployed and inactive persons to obtain a professional qualification. More than 67000 participants should find their way into employment or self-employment. Almost 21000 persons will achieve a clear improvement of their employability and over 22000 disadvantaged persons should take part in trainings or get into jobs as a result of their participation in the programme. In the frame of the fight against early school-leaving, 4200 students should achieve diploma thanks to measures financed under this OP.
