Programme description
Main objectives
The Cooperation programme 'Interreg V-A Austria-Czech Republic' addresses several important cross-border challenges which are linked to the implementation of Europe 2020 in the Czech-Austrian border region. Strategically, the programme aims at strengthening joint research and development capacities in combination with human resource development. It will also promote the sustainable development and protection of natural resources in the natural area along the former "iron curtain". These main thematic priorities will be complemented by efforts to foster closer co-operation in legal and administrative questions to create a better integrated border region.
To achieve these strategic objectives, the programme aims at increasing number of cross-border innovation infrastructure, to extend the common supply of education and qualification acitivities, to promote environmental protection in shared natural areas, to intensify the cross-border interactions in the tourism sector, and to further improve cross-border governance structures.
Funding priorities
The programme will focus on the following four priorities:
Some of the expected results
- Increased research and development quota and higher R&I expenditure in the border region
- Increased touristic attractiveness of the border region with 3,5 million more overnight stays
- 10 new, joint biodiversity management mechanisms
- 700 participants in joint qualification programmes
- 300 partners in institutional cooperation networks
