Expansion and modernisation to provide boost for Poznan airport

Poznań-Ławica is an international regional airport, which is part of the trans-European transport (TEN-T) network and situated between the main air routes to Berlin and Buka.

The project, primarily, has involved a major upgrade of the passenger terminal building at Poznań-Ławica, which lies 7 km west of Poznan.

It also comprised the construction of a special stand for the de-icing of aircraft and expansion of other areas of the airport, including new taxiways and the aircraft apron. The passenger terminal building was also expanded and modernised.

Projected passenger figures set for sharp increase

The airport capacity is expected to increase from the current 1.5 million passengers a year to approximately three million.

Capacity will increase to a maximum of 30 operations per hour on the taxiway system and about 1 760 passengers (arrivals and departures) per hour during peak hours. 

The project will primarily benefit airlines and passengers using the airport, but is expected that the airport’s 50 % increase in capacity will also benefit inhabitants living throughout the Wielkopolskie region, giving a boost to the local and regional economy.

Total investment and EU funding

Total investment for the "Poznań-Ławica Airport - expansion and modernisation of airport and port infrastructure" project is EUR 73 093 816, of which the EU´s Cohesion Fund is contributing EUR 22 113 935 from the Operational Programme "Infrastructure and Environment" for the 2007 to 2013 programming period, under the priority axis VI "TEN-T road and air transport network".
