#Youth4Coop - Youth for a greener fashion industry: learn, get inspired, engage!

On 18th May, young fashion actors will be presenting their business models and discussing sustainability in the textile sector. The ENI CBC MED projects will showcase their initiatives to support young entrepreneurs and to foster sustainability in the clothing industry.

2,700 litres of fresh water are needed to make a single cotton t-shirt. The equivalent to one person’s drinking needs for a year and a half. The textile industry has still a lot to do to minimise its negative impact on the environment.

The event “Youth for a greener clothing and fashion industry” will give voice to young designers, creators and entrepreneurs from both sides of the Mediterranean who are putting circularity, sustainability and resources-efficiency at the core of their business models. Many of these young creators have been supported by ENI CBC Med projects. From design to production, they are opting for locally, naturally outsourced materials and adopting recycling and upcycling practices, with the purpose of reducing the environmental footprint and make their circular business models a success and an inspiration for others.

The webinar will take place online on the 18 May from 15-17,30 CEST. It will showcase the opportunities offered by CREATIVE and TEX-MED ALLIANCES ENI CBC MED projects to foster circularity and sustainability in the clothing industry. Well-known brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo will highlight how they are taking action in favour of the environment, and the recently approved EU strategy for sustainable and circular textiles will be presented by the European Commission representatives.

The event is one of the 36 stops of #TheGreenTrack, an EU initiative of the European Year of Youth in collaboration with the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, giving visibility to young people engaged in activities in favour of the environment.
