REACT-EU: €107.3 million to support the recovery in France, Germany and the Netherlands

Regions in France, Germany and the Netherlands are receiving additional grants of €107.3 million under the Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe (REACT-EU) to support economic recovery and boost the digital and green transitions.

In France, the Pays de la Loire region will receive additional resources of €17.5 million for the development of e-education and e-administration as well as of multimodal mobility. In Germany, Hamburg is receiving additional resources of €11.5 million to support research & innovation (e.g., information transfer and research activities between businesses and universities (Life Science and FabLabs), the creation of a Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence and the increase of energy efficiency.

Hessen will receive additional resources of €18 million to improve the innovation infrastructure at universities, university hospitals and non-university research institutions. The resources will also support early-stage start-ups, in particular via the equity fund Hessen Kapital III, and small and medium businesses in structurally weak areas.

Finally, in the Netherlands, the East Netherlands programme is topped up with €60.3 million to support innovative technologies, processes and investments that will reinforce the innovation eco-system, as well as sustainable energy, the circular economy and the sustainable use of materials.

REACT-EU is part of NextGenerationEU and provides €50.6 billion in additional funding (in current prices) over the course of 2021 and 2022 to the 2014-2020 cohesion policy programmes.
