The ALPGRIDS project is developing microgrids, which enable villages in the Alpine region to produce energy locally.

For the local citizens, this reduces volatility in billing and protects them better from possible blackouts. The Alpgrids project has also created the AlpGrids network which is developing and replicating smart grids in five European countries (DE, AT, FR, IT, SI). The project is supported by the Interreg Alpine Space Programme.
