A EUR 3.4 million renovation of the Professor José Buísel school is currently under way. Meanwhile, work has already been completed on the Montes de Alvor kindergarten, which was expanded and remodelled at a cost of EUR 454 000.
The removal of asbestos will be the focus in a further three schools, helping to ensure a healthy environment for both students and staff. The remaining three schools will be modernised.
The refurbishments are part of a wider EUR 27-million initiative to upgrade and build schools in 13 municipalities in the Algarve region. ERDF co-financing for this project totals EUR 18.6 million.
