Stories from the Regions: Cooperative planning for zero emissions city district – Hiedenranta, Finland

This episode of the "Stories from the Regions" series brings to us nearby the large city Tampere in the Southern Finland where we discover an interesting urban planning project.

Based on the sustainable residential neighborhoods partnership model for regional planning (KIEPPI), the project is about green landscaping and the reuse of old factory premises. Rare plant species have been planted in the garden of the reshaped residential zone.

The circular economy of green construction is an important objective so that the Hiedenranta region becomes a smart and energy-efficient residential area in the future while keeping the distinctive sign of its old industrial heritage.

The planning objectives are residential-oriented and the new renewable zone will adapt well in the diverse needs of the habitants of Hiedenranta.
