With the help of an ERDF-funded project, the nanotechnology institute at Romania’s Ovidius University of Constanța is boosting its research capacity and promoting entrepreneurship.

Students at the Institute for Nanotechnologies and Alternative Energy Sources will participate in projects with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s Raw Materials consortium, as part of the EITRM-OUC project.

They will focus on the sustainable use of raw materials and advanced materials that are intended for applications such as fuel cells. Composite materials with innovative structural uses and those with selective permeability will also be studied.

The institute is also aiming to promote entrepreneurship in nanotechnology and advanced materials. Master’s and doctoral students will be trained in preparing project proposals and in the use of laboratory equipment and other investigative tools.

The ERDF is funding EUR 337 177 of the project budget of EUR 412 300. EITRM-OUC is scheduled to end in June 2023.
