Business boost helps Northern Ireland’s entrepreneurs ‘Go For It’

Entrepreneurs with a brilliant business idea but who lack the know-how to turn it into reality can get free expert advice and mentoring thanks to the ERDF-funded Go For It programme, being implemented in Northern Ireland.

Entrepreneurs with a brilliant business idea but who lack the know-how to turn it into reality can get free expert advice and mentoring thanks to the ERDF-funded Go For It programme, being implemented in Northern Ireland.

Go For It has a team of business mentors in all 11 council areas who cover the vital first steps needed to get a business off the ground, such as financial planning and drawing up a sales and marketing strategy.

Every intervention is tailored to each entrepreneur’s aspirations.

The programme helped 25-year-old Francine Montgomery start her own photography and videography business in October 2019. Because Go For It had helped her draw up a business plan, she was able to successfully navigate the disruption caused by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Go For It is delivered by the Mid Ulster District Council. Of the businesses the programme has helped create, 80 % have lasted more than two years.
