The project is focused on the Danube Delta and is a partnership between Romanian researchers and government bodies tasked with protecting the environment of the delta, the largest in Europe.

Project activities will include raising the submerged banks of canals, revitalising artificial islands, conducting research into the mink’s health status and assessing the threats these animals face.

The project’s total value is EUR 8.3 million (RON 40.6 million), of which 85 % is funded by the ERDF. The project is scheduled to run from 1 August 2019 to 31 December 2023.
