Spanish town on the road to a low-carbon future

Energy-saving LED lights have been installed in Piornal, in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura, allowing the municipality to save money.

In many of the streets throughout this Spanish municipality, old lights were replaced with energy-efficient light-emitting diode lamps or LEDs.

The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Spain’s Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving.

It is part of efforts by local authorities to improve energy efficiency in the region by implementing low-carbon economy projects. The total investment was EUR 145 156.
