Since 1 April 2020, following the Commission's proposal for a Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative (CRII), EU member states and candidate countries can apply for support from the EU Solidarity Fund for health emergency reasons. The EUSF support would cover some of the public expenses related to the epidemic as from the date of first measures taken by the authorities to counter its effects.

The amount of financial support will be calculated based on the eligible public expenditure for emergency response communicated by each country. The countries have time until 24 June to submit further details and finalise their application.
