A cross-border project has encouraged migrant creative entrepreneurs in pitching their ideas to prospective investors. The Urban Diversity project took place in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Graz (Austria), and was supported by ERDF.
Over the three years of the project researchers studied the situation of migrant entrepreneurs in both cities. The findings were used to train municipalities, regions and policymakers on how to incentivise the migrant economy.
The project participated in local events and schemes migrant creatives, such as artists and designers, were able to present their business ideas to potential employees and financiers in co-working premises.
Social media was used to connect institutions and communities that wanted to promote the migrant economy. Activities encouraged cooperation between migrant entrepreneurs, creatives, local authorities and residents of both cities. Special attention was paid to promoting equality and migrants’ active involvement in social life and the creative industries.
The project’s studies and materials will remain available on its website, including an information brochure on the business opportunities of migrant entrepreneurs in the cities.Related links:
