Kalamata International Airport, in southern Greece, is being expanded and its voice communication system upgraded, via an ERDF-funded project.
The project will include adding more parking bays for aircraft, expanding the terminal building and surrounding area and moving the fuel depot.
A total of EUR 500 000 has been set aside for the project. The decision for the expansion was taken by Greece’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority.
In addition, a Voice Communication and Recording System to serve the needs of Air Traffic Services will be installed. This is being done to fulfil the requirement of having duplicate voice recording systems.
