Today in Ljubljana Andriana Sukova, Deputy Director-General of DG EMPL, Manfred Bergmann, Director in DG ECFIN, and Vittoria Alliata, Director in DG REGIO, presented the 2019 European Country Report for Slovenia. This year’s country report has a special focus at the investment challenges and priorities in the Member States and sets out first ideas as to how EU funds, in particular EU Cohesion Policy funds, can help in the forthcoming programming period 2021-2027.

The Commission proposed €3.45 billion (in current prices) of Cohesion Policy support for investments in skills, in environmental, transport and energy infrastructure, as well as in research and development to strengthen competitiveness and productivity.

The visit included discussions with the EU Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, the local Economic and Social Council representing the employers, trade unions and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia as well as a big public event with a wide range of national and regional stakeholders hosted by the Commission’s Representation in Ljubljana.
