An ERDF-funded project in the Polish municipality of Grodków has been adapting road networks, bicycle paths, public transport and parking bays in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the region.
The aim of this ERDF-funded project is to promote the use of public transport and bicycles over individual car use, so as to reduce harmful emissions and protect the environment. The project has already seen the installation of energy-efficient street lighting in towns and villages across the municipality.
The project has also carried out work on the Grodków train and bus station, making it more accessible and attractive for visitors, including meeting the needs of disabled passengers and providing more travel information. The station square is under renovation, too, with improved access roads and pedestrian crossings as well as more parking for cars and bikes in the pipeline.
The ERDF-funded plans will include the construction of new park and ride and bike and ride facilities and bigger car parks and bicycle paths across the Grodków and Paczków municipalities. The project – which is 85 % co-funded by the ERDF – should be completed by November 2018.
