An ERDF-funded project is financing the construction of a new health centre in El Hierro in the Canary Islands, which will replace the current outdated one.

The ERDF-funded health centre will house the latest facilities, including consultation rooms, doctor practices, and emergency and diagnostic imaging areas, among many others. The construction work, which has only just begun, is expected to take about a year, at a total cost of over EUR 2 000 000.

It is hoped that the new centre will allow for the expansion of basic hospital services as well as new facilities for primary care. The building will span around 800 square metres over three floors and will house a variety of new practices and offices.

Among the new services will be three family doctor practices; three nursing offices; two paediatric consultation offices; a multi-purpose consultation room; a treatment room and an emergency room, as well as the accompanying facilities required for staff and patients.
