The Interreg ‘Cool Route’ project aims to promote the local coastline and bring new business opportunities to small local enterprises in unique remote regions along Europe’s north-western coastline.
The coastline stretching from Cork, around Ireland, Scotland, the Faroe Islands and across to Tromsø, Norway is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world. An ERDF-funded project is aiming to take advantage of ecotourism opportunities for the communities in this marine-rich environment.
The ‘Cool Route’ project is inviting local small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) along the route to self-register on the project website www.sailcoolroute.eu, where all participating businesses will be showcased. In addition, discussions between local stakeholders concerning potential packages and combined business opportunities are ongoing in a bid to maximise the potential of the route’s unique regions.
The project will promote the local coastline in a sustainable way, establish a yacht cruising route, and provide participating SMEs with common branding, a booking and information platform and a joint ‘place-based’ marketing model.
As a result, Cool Route hopes to strengthen the market reach and broaden the customer base of local enterprises close to this stunning section of the northern European coastline. The Cool Route Project is funded by the Interreg VB Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme.
