In a bid to develop new generation, high-quality and sustainable vessels able to access global markets, an ERDF-funded project is supporting long-term cooperation between Enterprise Estonia and Baltic Workboats.
Baltic Workboats (BWB), a shipyard that dates to the 20th century in Saaremaa, Estonia, is widely recognised for its vessels’ seaworthiness, fuel efficiency and quality. BWB’s quality-price ratio also provides value for money, giving it an edge over its competitors.
Enterprise Estonia, on the other hand, promotes business and regional policy in the country by providing financial assistance, counselling, cooperation and training across all sectors, in this instance, shipbuilding.
The ERDF is supporting cooperation between Enterprise Estonia and BWB in a bid to increase export volumes and successfully develop a new-generation prototype ship design, targeting the South American market in particular.
Developing new products and services with support from Enterprise Estonia has helped BWB to grow faster than expected, and sets a precedent for cooperation between Enterprise Estonia and other private-sector companies in the country.
